Before and after

Today not something which I have made from beginning... My sister found a mask dug deep under the mud and bushes in the garden. For me it was a real treasure. I offered her to try and renew it.

I have started with drying it.

Then it was time for polishing and waxing...

You might not believe but from orangy colour it came to deep red and looked amazing at the end.

My advice... Don't throw away old wooden things... Give it a second Life!

Intarsia Angel

I found an amazing, fascinating way to connect pieces of wood together in one bit.
It's called intarsia.
I had to find different types of wood, with different colours. Then I cut piece, by piece and tried to put them together like puzzles.
It's not as easy as it sounds. My work needed sanding, polishing, waxing. Bit of varnish on top...
All the pieces should perfectly match, then you glue them to the base - in my work it's an angel shape.
It's not perfect, but for the very first time, I thing it looks... Wow:)

Springtime...

I miss Spring... Can't wait for bit of sun and small garden jobs... Usually I'm planting tomatoes, cucumbers, but this year I have decided I'm not going to feed slags, I will have grass in most of my garden and couple of flowers. But flowers will be in colorful pots. A bit like this one...

Happy Birthday

Hello! I'm back:) you didn't think I run out of ideas, did you?
Today I used a solid wood to make a little girl... She's holding a flower, as she's wishing Happy Birthday to someone special:)
There is more possible options, a Valentine's figure holding heart, or two figures for a couple:)
Just wait for some more!

H-angry birds

Did you hear that people, when they hungry, get angry?
I thought it might apply to birds as well, and because I keep in mind the worst horror movie from childhood - The Birds by Hitchcock, I've decided to put myself in a safe position and build a bird's feeder:)
It's not perfect, but bear in mind it is my first bird's house - feeder, and I hope birds will concentrate on food, not the look of the house.

My mum asked me can I make a holder for candles... Something different than you can find in the shop... Not black, and not silver... Holding five long candles, but candles should stand on different levels... With asymmetric effect... Oh dear - I thought - maybe I should stop pretending that I can do everything and everything is possible...
But I think again I proved myself that I can do it!

Postcard from Sułkowice

Well, not really a postcard, it's more a  bauble.
I found it very interesting... From picture printed with ordinary printer, with a bit of white glue, I managed to transfer a printed layer onto the wood slice.
For me it looks amazing - like old postcard on a wood. Do you like it?

Every time I see gingerbread man I'm thinking about Shrek. And always start eating gingerbread man from buttons:):D

Eye patch for Alfie - the dog

Today completely different story... My work made's pet, dog, Alfie, has lost his eye...
Sad... Sad... I couldn't even imagine that. Alfie is really lucky having such an amazing owner and so much love around him...
My daughter told me today that I have to do something, because I have told her so many times that there is always some solution ( be very careful what you are saying to your kids!!!).
And you know what? First I thought yeah,w  I'm not a magician! But then I started thinking and thinking and now I know she was right.
